This set of stairs was a total rebuild. The framing was properly stabilized to the revetment. The staircase was rebuilt with timber posts and cross-bracing. The client upgraded to Azek composite material for the stair treads and handrail cap. A composite material like Azek is durable and can withstand weathering on this open ocean beachfront. Maintenance on Azek is minimal; it does not splinter or require seasonal sanding or applying a new coat of finish. We do recommend power washing at least once a year at the beginning of the season.
